Officer Highlight – APD Olivia Martinez

By now, you all may be familiar with the Participating Officer Highlights that we do. However, today’s highlight may look a little different. We are doing our very first Agency Program Director highlight and it is no other than the wonderful Olivia Martinez!

We want to shine a light on our hard working Agency Program Directors. But to start off, you’re probably asking yourself- what is an Agency Program Director? We’re glad you asked!

Agency Program Directors are the foundation of each individual agency’s program. That’s right, they run their whole BlueBridge program! Sometimes by themselves and sometimes with a colleague. Normally the candidates for this particular role is an individual from Administration as well as someone from command staff.

Without getting into the nitty gritty, it’s safe to say that Agency Program Directors are the ones who make sure BlueBridge is running smoothly for their department.

Olivia runs the BlueBridge program at Moses Lake WA PD by herself and she is pretty dang good at it! She even won the BlueBridge award in 2023 “The Unsung Hero” which is an award for the Agency Program Director of the year!

Something special about Olivia is that she is part of the very beginning of BlueBridge. She was recommended for the role, and after a few meetings- she became passionate about the program. She knew she wanted to help make BlueBridge happen for Moses Lake. Not to mention, she has been the director of her program for almost three years now- WOW! Olivia has been the director since summer of 2022, when BlueBridge was starting its pilot program. Ever since, she has been an invaluable asset to BlueBridge HQ.

Moses Lake has always been active with their BlueBridge program, meaning they use their BlueBridge cards a lot. A cool part about Olivia’s job is that she gets to see all of the interactions her department makes. On top of that, she gets to use BlueBridge herself and has had so many community building interactions. We asked her which one stuck with her the most over the years, in which she responded “We had a young girl’s dog get stolen so we were able to find her a replacement pup and got her some necessities through BlueBridge.” She mentioned how heartwarming and amazing it was to see the officer go above and beyond to help the young girl.

Moses Lake has a pretty tight-knit community that is always ready to help one another out. We admire Olivia and her MLPD Participating Officers for all of the great ways they use BlueBridge to give back to the community and how much they advocate for the program. “The positive interactions and connections we make because of BlueBridge makes it worth it! Showing our community that we want to be a part of it means the world,” says Olivia.

Thank you so much Olivia for being there from the beginning, advocating for BlueBridge, running your program with grace, and all of your hard work. We love having you in the BlueBridge family!
